Escape the Crowds! Explore Private Reserves on an Exclusive Safari for Just Six Guests

To many, South Africa’s wealth is synonymous with its diamonds and gold. But we think its greatest riches lie in another of its natural treasures: its wildlife. Sabi Sand, Marataba, Madikwe and other vast bushveld reserves protect an astounding diversity of big game. From massive-tusked African elephants to sleek leopards, from squat rhinos to regal lions and Cape buffalo, the Big Five are all here to provide one of Africa’s greatest safari experiences—and with our focus on secluded private reserves in the Greater Kruger region and remote realms beyond, the only crowds you'll encounter are crowds of animals. At every turn, our Expedition Leader reveals the intricate wonders of the bush ecosystem, sharing interpretive insights and conservation success stories. When your safari is over, one thing is certain: you’ll go home far richer than when you arrived.

Madikwe Reserve

Madikwe Reserve

A protected area in South Africa, Madikwe Game Reserve opened in 1991 and was named after the Madikwe or Marico River. The Reserve used to be farm land however after extensive research, it was utilized as a national park to economically uplift the area. Currently, it is the fifth largest game reserve, a hidden gem and one of the best conservation areas in Africa.
Johannesburg

Johannesburg

Johannesburg's contrasts are some of the most extreme in the world; poverty-stricken and overcrowded Alexandra is surrounded by some of the richest suburbs in South Africa, and downtown hundreds of homeless struggle to survive around the Stock Exchange. The contrast between suburb and township is mirrored nationwide, but is more extreme here because of the intense wealth of many of the suburbs, and the sheer size of the townships and their satellite squatter camps. Yet the city as a whole continues to suck in people and skills from all over the country, making it the financial, commercial and cultural powerhouse of South Africa.
